Model high-school student Joel (Cruise), the son of wealthy parents, hopes to secure admission to Princeton. When his parents go on holiday, his friend Miles (Curtis Armstrong) convinces him to enjoy his newfound freedom and finally have some fun. What starts out as drinking and dancing escalates when Joel meets Lana (De Mornay), a prostitute.
